ABOUT APOSTILLES AND AUTHENTICATIONS
The California Secretary of State and the US Department of State provide authentication of public official signatures on documents to be used outside of the United States of America. A document’s country of destination determines whether the authentication will be an Apostille or Certification. Any documents requested for use in any of the countries of destination listed above would be issued as “Apostilles” from these 2 government agencies. In addition to the State of California and the U.S. Federal Government, all other states of the U.S.A. issue Apostilles through their own individual authorized agencies, for documents signed by public officials in those states. In most cases (but not all), they are issued by the Secretary of State of each state.
For legal information about Apostilles issued by California, please see California Government Code 12195(e).
If you need to get an Apostille from any US State, we will gladly assist you with that! See our California Apostilles and Authentications page for details.
