Notary Fees Increased on January 1, 2017 for California Notaries

Due to the passage of California Assembly Bill 2217 on August 17, 2017, the maximum fees that California Notaries may charge increased on January 1, 2017.  Notaries may now charge a maximum of $15 for the following Notarial Acts:

  • Acknowledgments
  • Jurats
  • Oaths (including Oaths of Office)
  •  Certified Copy of Power of Attorney

Other fees charged by Notaries have had their maximums increase as well. To find out more information, please research California Assembly Bill 227.

California Apostilles Starting at $69 each, plus government fees!

If you need to get an Apostille from the California Secretary of State, we are now offering California Apostilles for as low as $69 plus government fees, for the first Apostille in your order.  Additional California Apostilles are only $55 each, plus government fees.   We process all California Apostille orders within 1 business day of receipt.  Unless shipping is arranged and paid for through us, all documents are available for pick up at our office by appointment, up to 11PM during weekdays and up to 7PM on weekends, by appointment.

We are conveniently located in Mid-City Los Angeles, with plenty of free street parking.  We accept documents for Apostille from 10AM up to 11PM during weekdays (by appointment), and from 11AM to 7PM on weekends by appointment.

Government fees at the California Secretary of State in Los Angeles are $20 per Apostille, plus $6.00 per public official name on your documents.  Each document has a public official’s name, but $6.00 is charged for each different name on your set of documents.  For example, if you have 4 documents that have all been notarized by the same notary, you will pay $20 x 4 = $80 for the Apostilles, plus $6 x 1 official’s name = $6 for the name, or $86 total in government fees for your order, plus $69 + 3 x $55 = $69 + $165 = $234 in government fees.  Your total would be $86 + $234 = $320.00.   The government fees quoted here are for documents that bear the signatures of public officials who are on file with the California Secretary of State only- these include signatures of all active Notaries Public, and all County Clerks, County Recorders, and County Registrars, and the State Registrar of Public Health in Sacramento, as well as all Judges and Clerks of the California Superior Court, and the Governor and other key personnel who work for the State of California.   Other documents issued in California at the County level may require additional authentication prior to being sent to our office- if in doubt, give us a call!

If your documents need notarization in order to receive Apostilles (which is the case for Transcripts, School Records, Diplomas, copies of Driver License or Passport, Power of Attorney,  other legal documents),  you should know that we do provide Notary Services for $10.00 per notarized signature, for Acknowledgments or Jurats.

Visit Our First (And Still Main) Blog: “The Hollywood Notary (TM)”

Although we have a blog that we create as a part of this website, we also have a longstanding blog that we have continuously updated for 9 years, on Blogger. It’s called “The Hollywood Notary (TM)” , and it’s always been called that. This blog is in no way associated with a company by the same name in Hollywood that has been operating for about 4 years- we still use the name for this publication, for we believe that just because another Notary company had the nerve, indecency, ignorance or stupidity to use a name that we were already using for our blog (this blog has been consistently ranked in the top 3 listings for several years on Google for keywords “notary public hollywood”), and there is absolutely no reason for us to change the name of our publication. We have added the “TM” after the name of the blog, in order to indicate and assert our right and intent to continue using this name for our blog, since David Ransom had this name first in association with our published blog.

Our company has always been called “Hollywood Notary Dot Net”, or “Hollywood Notary.Net”,  and David Ransom has had a Fictitious Name Statement filed with the County of Los Angeles to use the names “Hollywood Notary Dot Net” and “Hollywood Notary” in association with the notary business that he runs in Los Angeles for several years now.  We named the blog “The Hollywood Notary” as a publication 9 years ago, and it’s still our blog- just to not cause confusion.  We are not planning to force the other company to change the name of their business just because it copies the name of our blog- we just want folks to not be confused, and know that we were already using that name for one of our assets prior to the existence of that other (non-related to us) company.

With all that being said,  “The Hollywood Notary (TM)” blog is published at http://hollywoodnotary.blogspot.com, and is published somewhat regularly nowadays.  We will update that blog as well as this one in order to enhance our marketing efforts.

If you need to quickly get a Certificate of Status (a.k.a. Certificate of Good Standing) from the California Secretary of State and you are in the city of Santa Barbara or in Santa Barbara County, Hollywood Notary Dot Net provides fast, 2-day processing of Certificates of Status.

To fulfill your order for a Certificate of Status with the Secretary of State, we must make 2 trips to the office of their office in Sacramento. We place the order for the Certificates in-person, at their counter (the Los Angeles Office cannot issue these Certificates).

Once the Certificates are ready (generally on the following business day), we pick them up from the Secretary of State’s counter.  Next, we ship the documents to you using Fed Ex Express.   We charge only $175 for this service (for all U.S. destinations; AK and HI are $20 extra).  Additional certificates in your order are only $75. To most major U.S. cities, you will receive the document by 10:30am the next business day after we ship the document (which will be 1 to 2 business days after your phone call to us).  To most rural places in the U.S., Fed Ex Express can deliver by 5pm the next business day.

I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.  Some loan signing companies only pay Notaries $70.00 to print and sign up to 200 pages!  That’s not me.  I charge what my time and effort is worth.  Even at what I charge, it’s a bargain, especially if you want to make sure it’s done right.

I charge more than most signing agents for loan signings, because I have more experience with these signings than most, and I am the best.  I am careful to not allow errors in the signings- I double check everything.  I value my time and I command respect- that’s why my work is the best, and that’s why I charge what I do!

I am a licensed, bonded Notary, with $100,000 in Errors and Omissions Insurance. My commission expires 11/5/2017.  I have been an NNA-trained and background-screened signing agent for 9 years.

Obtaining Birth Certificates and Other Vital Records for Authentications, including Apostilles

If you need to get an Authentication (like an Apostille or Certification) for your Birth Certificate or other vital record, like a Marriage Certificate, you can order it directly from the County Recorder where the event (birth, marriage, or death) took place.   All you have to do is to google the County Recorder for the county where the event took place, and contact that office.

An easy way to get your documents ordered is to use Vital Check, at www.vitalchek.com. You can pay them online, and they will order the Birth Certificate or other vital record for you!  Their service is fast and easy!  They will ask you to complete a form that states that you are an Authorized Person to place the order, and you will need to get it notarized and return it to them (by fax or email) before they will complete your order!  Vital Check is an excellent service!
